Kath Mitchell

Kath Mitchell’s love for storytelling began on a peaceful lakefront farm in Western Washington, where she grew up surrounded by a lively chorus of cats, dogs, cattle, sheep, chickens, and one gentle horse. Some of her fondest memories are of sitting on her granddad’s knee as he spun “real true stories that I just made up” a spark that ignited her lifelong passion for imagination and words.
Inspired by timeless storytellers like Louisa May Alcott, Beatrix Potter, Johnny Gruelle, and Margaret Wise Brown, as well as dreamers like Neil Armstrong, Kath has built a voice that shines with warmth, curiosity, and heart. Her stories capture the wonder of childhood and the beauty of discovering connections across our amazing world.
Now living in Southern Oregon, Kath shares her cozy home with two beloved cats, shelves of treasured books, and an ever-growing collection of teddy bears. Surrounded by comfort and creativity, she continues to write tales that remind readers young and old alike that stories have the power to make the world a little brighter, one page at a time.
My Mission as an Author
I write to bring the quiet moments of wonder back into a noisy world. To remind children and the child still living in all of us to stop and listen: to the soft purr of a kitten, the rustle of leaves, the laughter of wind across a meadow. Each story I create is a gentle invitation to see the world through kinder eyes… to discover that every sound, every heartbeat, and every creature has a story worth hearing. Because when we listen with love, we realize we’re all part of one beautiful conversation between people, animals, and the living world that surrounds us.
